The hydrogen highway that will power our future
Another milestone was reached for the SoutH2 Corridor on October 23rd, 2025, in Vienna. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism brought together key stakeholders from Austria, Germany, Italy, the European Commission, regulatory authorities, and all four transmission system operators for the 6th Trilateral Working Group Meeting, which provided an excellent platform to exchange insights on the project’s progress and to define the next concrete steps toward establishing this vital European hydrogen corridor.
Key focus areas of the meeting:
▪️ Financing mechanisms and regulatory frameworks
▪️ Exchange on project progress
▪️ Concrete next steps to accelerate delivery
Why this matters:
The SoutH2 Corridor is a game-changer for Europe’s energy integration and security – an ambitious 3,300 km infrastructure initiative designed to transport renewable hydrogen from North Africa through Italy and Austria to Germany. This isn’t just infrastructure; it’s a bridge between continents and a pathway to climate neutrality.
TAG’s contribution to the SoutH2Corridor
TAG GmbH took part in the working group discussions, reinforcing the company’s dedication to advancing hydrogen infrastructure. TAG is making significant strides toward a greener energy landscape through its PCI project “H2-Readiness of the TAG Pipeline System” by:
▪️ Converting one of its three existing pipeline strands to facilitate the transportation of pure hydrogen
▪️ Collaborating with Snam S.p.A., Gas Connect Austria, and bayernets GmbH to bring the SoutH2 Corridor to life
▪️ Enabling the shift toward carbon-neutral energy solutions across Central Europe
At TAG, our core mission – to support the flow of energy – is evolving into a commitment to supporting the flow of even more sustainable energy. As hydrogen becomes essential to reaching climate neutrality goals, we take pride in our active role in defining the next generation of European energy infrastructure.
A big thank you to the Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy and Tourism for organizing this impactful gathering. This collaboration underscores the commitment of three nations to building the hydrogen economy and securing a sustainable energy future for Europe.
