Pioneering the Hydrogen Transition – TAG GmbH as a First Mover in Hydrogen Infrastructure
On June 2, 2025, TAG GmbH was proud to be recognized as a first mover in hydrogen infrastructure at the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Grant Agreement Ceremony, held during the Energy Infrastructure Forum in Copenhagen. Our feasibility study – “H₂ Readiness of the TAG pipeline system – Conceptual Engineering & FEED preparation” – was awarded a CEF Energy Grant, confirming the strategic importance of their efforts toward decarbonizing the European energy system.
As part of the Project of Common Interest (PCI) “H₂ Readiness of the TAG Pipeline System,” this study lays the groundwork for retrofitting the TAG network to transport renewable hydrogen. It marks a crucial milestone in TAG’s ambition to lead the way in the hydrogen transformation and ensure a secure, future-ready energy infrastructure for Austria and Europe.
By acting early and decisively, TAG GmbH is among the first gas transmission system operators in Europe to move from vision to concrete planning – an approach that underscores the first-mover position in the hydrogen sector.
The ceremony brought together five PCI projects from across Europe, highlighting Europe’s collective ambition for a sustainable future. We were honored to share the stage with peers working on critical projects – from offshore wind in France to hydrogen networks in Spain and Italy.
We extend our sincere thanks to CINEA – the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency and the European Commission for supporting our project and recognizing its strategic value.
Europe is moving forward with the energy transition and so are we.
We support the flow of energy – today and in the hydrogen future.
