The 5th Trilateral Forum (Italy-Austria-Germany) took place on March 7, 2025, in Stuttgart, Germany, with a strong focus on accelerating the hydrogen economy and developing a concrete work plan for the SoutH2Corridor.
This ambitious 3,300 km infrastructure project, designed by the four transmission system operators (TSOs) Snam S.p.A., TAG GmbH, Gas Connect Austria GmbH, and bayernets GmbH, aims to transport renewable hydrogen from North Africa to Italy, Austria, and Germany. By bridging continents, the project is playing a key role in driving Europe’s energy transition towards a sustainable and climate-neutral future.
TAG’s Role in the SoutH2Corridor
TAG GmbH is an integral partner in the SoutH2Corridor initiative, contributing its expertise and infrastructure to support the transition to a hydrogen-based energy system. At the forum, Daniele Gamba, Managing Director of TAG GmbH, and Florian Ahammer, Business Development & Energy Management, participated in the working group sessions, reaffirming TAG’s commitment to hydrogen infrastructure development.
Through the PCI project “H2-Readiness of the TAG Pipeline System”, TAG is taking significant steps towards a sustainable energy future by:
- Repurposing one of its three pipeline strands for pure hydrogen transport.
- Co-developing the SoutH2Corridor alongside Snam S.p.A., Gas Connect Austria, and bayernets GmbH.
- Supporting the transition to a climate-neutral energy supply in Central Europe.
At TAG, our core mission – to support the flow of energy – is evolving into a commitment to supporting the flow of even more sustainable energy. Hydrogen will play a crucial role in achieving climate neutrality, and we are proud to be actively shaping the future of European energy infrastructure.
A collaborative effort for a sustainable future
The forum gathered more than 50 representatives from regulatory authorities, financial institutions, and ministries, fostering an in-depth exchange on the future of hydrogen infrastructure in Europe. TAG GmbH extends its gratitude to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the Ministry for Environment, Climate and Energy of Baden-Württemberg, the German Energy Agency (dena), and Plattform H2BW for organizing this impactful international gathering.
